Omnipresent is built for contractors and home services: plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, remodeling, landscaping, and more.
Run plumbing and HVAC under one company name? Our HVAC SEO page covers what Google says about one profile per business and choosing categories.
On its help page Tips to improve your local ranking on Google, Google says: “Local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity.” The same help page has sections headed Relevance, Distance and Prominence, summarized below. Our work is on the parts of your profile Google points to: complete business info, reviews and replies, and photos and videos.
| Google’s heading | What Google says | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Relevance | How well your Business Profile matches what someone is searching for. Google says complete and detailed business info helps it match you to relevant searches. | Your categories, services, description and attributes, audited and then kept optimized. |
| Distance | How far your business is from the customer who is searching. | Nobody can change how far you are from the person searching. Your monthly report shows where you rank across your area. |
| Prominence | How well-known your business is. Google says this is also based on info like how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have, and that more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking. | Our part is reviews: a review request after every completed job, and replies to your new reviews. |
That help page gives tips under the headings “Verify your business,” “Keep your business information up-to-date,” “Respond to reviews,” “Add photos & videos” and “Add in-store products.” Under the second, Google says “Businesses with complete and accurate info are more likely to show up in local search results.”

On its help page Manage your service areas for service-area & hybrid businesses, Google defines a service-area business as one that visits or delivers to customers directly but doesn’t serve customers at its business address, and it gives plumbers as an example.
In its Guidelines for representing your business on Google, Google says a service-area business should hide its business address from customers. Its example: if you’re a plumber and run your business from your residential address, clear the address from your Business Profile.
These are Google’s own rules, quoted so you can check your profile against them.

Google allows you to ask customers for reviews of a genuine experience, as long as you don’t offer incentives or try to influence the rating or what the review says. Here are some of the lines Google draws.
Google’s own advice, from its help page Tips to get more reviews: ask customers to visit a Google link or scan a QR code to leave a review. When you reply, Google suggests that instead of sending the same “thank you” to everyone, you focus on reviews where you can share a helpful update or answer a question.
What we do: we start with a review campaign to your past customers. Then every completed job triggers a text and an email asking for a Google review, with a direct link, and we reply to your new Google reviews. Read more on how to get more Google reviews.

No one can force an AI tool to recommend a business, no matter who says they can. We work to get you showing up in AI search results, and we track how you show up in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Grok and Perplexity. We never promise a placement in an AI answer.
For Google’s own AI features, in its guide AI features and your website, Google says “There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode,” and its list of best practices includes checking that your Business Profile information is up to date.
In its guide to optimizing for generative AI features, Google says Google Business Profiles “can help your products and services to be visible in both AI responses and other Google Search results.”
Want to check yourself? Ask those tools the questions your customers ask, such as “Which plumber near me fixes water heaters?”, and note whether your business comes up. Our guide on how contractors show up in ChatGPT walks through it.
