The short answer

  • Review management is the ongoing work of getting new Google reviews, replying to them and keeping your Google Business Profile active, so the next customer who checks you sees a business that is busy and answers.
  • Google says it plainly: “More reviews and positive ratings can help your business’s local ranking.”
  • Distance is also part of how Google ranks local results, so where the homeowner searches from matters. You cannot move your shop. You can work on your reviews and your profile.
  • Google does not allow paying or rewarding customers for reviews, or asking only the happy ones. Ask every customer, the same way.
  • Our system: a kickoff campaign to past customers, a text and an email after every completed job, replies to your new Google reviews, and a progress report every two weeks. About 5 to 10 minutes to set up.

Review management and review marketing: what it covers

Review management, review marketing and reputation management get used for overlapping work. Here it means four jobs that run every month: asking for reviews, replying to them, keeping the profile people check active, and reporting on what changed.

01

Ask

We start with a review campaign to your past customers. Then every completed job triggers a text and an email asking for a Google review, with a direct link. So you never have to remember to ask.

02

Reply

We reply to your new Google reviews. In Google’s words, “When you reply to customer reviews, it shows that you value their feedback.”

03

Keep the profile active

We audit and optimize your Google Business Profile, then keep it active with posts, offers, updates, photos and videos. Every update goes out on all 6: your Google Business Profile, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.

04

Report

A Day 1 snapshot, a progress report every two weeks and a monthly report with a ranking heatmap. We also track how your business shows up in AI search.

San Diego search

Why reviews matter in San Diego search

Google says its local results “are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity.” Each one plays out differently for a San Diego contractor.

Distance “refers to how far each business is from the customer who’s searching.” Because distance is a factor, where the homeowner searches from matters. Your shop’s location is fixed.

Prominence (Google’s summary calls it popularity) is where reviews come in. Google says it is also based on info like “how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have,” and adds: “More reviews and positive ratings can help your business’s local ranking.” A steady flow of new reviews is something you can work on every week.

Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Google asks for “complete and detailed business info,” which is why we fix your categories, services, description and attributes.

How it works

How our review management works, step by step

Your part is about 5 to 10 minutes to set up. Then we take over.

  1. Set up in about 5 to 10 minutes

Fill out a short intake form, connect your Google Business Profile once and share your customer list. We never need your website login or your Google password.

  2. Kickoff campaign to your past customers

We start with a review campaign to the customers you already have, so the people who already know your work get asked first.

  3. A text and an email after every completed job

Every completed job triggers a text and an email asking for a Google review, with a direct link. Nobody on your crew has to remember to ask.

  4. Replies to your new reviews

We reply to your new Google reviews, so the next customer reading them sees a business that answers.

  5. A profile that looks busy and trusted

Every update goes out on all 6: your Google Business Profile, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn. Now and then, drag job photos and videos into a link we send you.

  6. Reports on what changed

A Day 1 snapshot, a progress report every two weeks and a monthly report with a ranking heatmap, plus local rank and performance reporting.

Google’s rules

What Google allows when you ask for reviews

Google’s Maps content policy spells out how a business can and cannot ask for reviews. Incentivized reviews “are not allowed and will be removed from Maps,” so a shortcut can cost you the reviews it got you. Before you hire anyone to manage your reviews, know these.

Not allowed

  • Rewards for reviews. No payment, discounts, free goods or services in exchange for a review, or for changing or removing a negative one.
  • Asking only the happy customers. Google does not allow businesses to discourage negative reviews or selectively solicit positive ones.
  • Pressure or scripts. No requiring or pressuring customers to leave a review while you are on site, and no asking them to include specific content.
  • Conflicts of interest. Reviews based on a conflict of interest, such as current or former employees, family members or competitors, are not allowed.

Allowed

  • Asking for an honest review. Encouraging customers to post about a genuine experience, without incentives and without trying to influence the rating or what they write.
  • Sending a direct link. Google says you “can ask customers to visit a Google link or scan a QR code.”
  • Replying to reviews. Good and bad, in public, where the next customer can read it.
  • Reporting fake reviews. You can report any review, but only those that violate Google’s policies are eligible for removal.

That is how our requests work: the same ask goes out after every completed job, by text and email, with a direct link to your Google review page.

Questions to ask any San Diego review or reputation management company

Ask us these too. Here are our answers.

Do you need my Google password?

Ours: we never need your website login or your Google password. You connect your Google Business Profile once.

What do I keep if I cancel?

Ours: your plan is month to month. If you cancel, you keep your Google Business Profile, every review earned and your customer list.
